Heaton Mersey Junior Girls Lacrosse takes off thanks to the David Hopkins Foundation!
Heaton Mersey Lacrosse Junior Girls have been awarded a £908 grant courtesy of Stockport Life Leisure’s Sporting Charity, The David Hopkins Foundation.
The Girls Lacrosse section was started only 4 years ago with a handful of girls to run alongside the established Junior Boys but now boasts over 50 new junior girls playing members aged from 6 to 14.
Richard Smith, Head Coach and Junior Development Manager at Heaton Mersey Lacrosse Club ( pictured centre back row) commented
“The generous award from the David Hopkins Foundation has allowed expenditure on girls playing equipment and goals without which would have held back the expansion of the our Junior Girls Lacrosse Section. This has meant for the first time we now have both under 13 and under 11 girls lacrosse teams playing competitive fixtures to complement the existing under 8/10 Development teams. We are extremely proud to be able to offer young girls the opportunity to play in a fast and skilful team sport in The Heatons which could not have been achieved without this financial support and considerable help from parents, coaches and volunteers.”
Heaton Mersey Lacrosse Club welcome girls and boys of all abilities including beginners from ages 5-16 and practice at The Heatons Sports Club on Green Lane, Heaton Moor on Monday evenings from 6.30pm-7.45pm All equipment is provided.
